The primary difference between 22 mil and 8 mm in flooring is that they measure two completely different, non-interchangeable aspects of a plank: mil measures the protective top layer (wear layer), while mm measures the total thickness of the plank.
22 mil (Wear Layer): Refers to 22 thousandths of an inch of clear, protective coating on top. This determines scratch, stain, and scuff resistance. 22 mil is considered high-quality, durable, and suitable for heavy residential or commercial traffic.
8 mm (Overall Thickness): Refers to the total height of the plank, including the backing, core, and wear layer. An 8 mm plank is quite thick, generally providing better stability, comfort underfoot, and sound insulation

Is the flooring height 16mm or 6mm? The width of the 8mm Reducer will cover about an inch over the top onto the other flooring substrate. The 8mm height of this Reducer will work with 6mm height flooring, simply tap down the Reducer top until flush with your 6mm height flooring. However, do not tap down the Reducer if using tile. Please reference the install videos on the item's product page.
We are currently producing 12mm profile sizes, but do not have active 12mm transition strip at this time.

This is not typical use and would vary depending on type of threshold being used. Most installations end with the threshold covering the edge of the flooring.
For the cleanest cut, it is recommended to cut the aluminum transition strips on a miter saw, specifically using a carbide-tipped blade designed for non-ferrous metal. A high tooth count blade is crucial for making clean, burr-free cuts on aluminum metal, since it is a softer metal.
Yes, the square profile transition strip works great from LVP to carpet, it is recommend the heights are similar. TrimMaster transition strips are also able to be tapped down (when not using tile) to create an even more secure fit.
Yes, the aluminum Square Cap flooring transition strip is waterproof and can be used outside. Just make sure to avoid tapping down the square cap edge when using tile. We have a great installation video in the product's image carousal that is helpful when choosing the profile and flooring.
The best method is to install with but ends. Make sure the ends or cut straight. If necessary use a small metal file to smooth both ends for a snug fit.
No the size of the opening of the trim does not vary between finishes. I believe this was a admin error on line which has now been corrected. Thank you for your interest in our products
This product may be cut to size using a hack saw, rotary cutter or a miter saw. IF necessary use a file to smooth rough edges. Also be sure to wear the proper Safety equipment particularly eye protection.
Satin Nickel had been a traditional finish that was anodized. We are transitioning to a new anodized powder coat finish that provides superior performance. The new finish is slightly different than the old anodized finish. Please be sure to match trim pieces prior to leaving and store and before installation to ensure you have the look you desire.
In most cases yes... although a cleaner cut would be to use a miter saw with appropriate metal blade or hacksaw. Be sure to file off any loose edges and wear appropriate eye and safety equipment

The actual trim can be tapped down up to 3mm. it will tap down to 4mm but you may experience some slight deformation which is usually not visible from a standing position. When tapping down remember to use a rubber mallet and tapping block or cloth to minimize and damage to surface. use only enough force to achieve your desired height difference
This is a powder coat finish on aluminum. it is not recommended but can be done. it requires proper surface preparation, including cleaning, light sanding to create a rough surface for adhesion, and applying a high-quality primer specifically designed for metal before applying your top coat of paint; this ensures the paint will properly adhere to the powder coat layer. Since this is a floor application you should consider using an high grade epoxy based or enamel paint. Check with paint manufacturer for proper recommendations. Of course this would void the initial finish warranty.
I would recommend using a strong adhesive with bonding properties suitable for porcelain or ceramic tile. You may also want to consider using a double sided installation tape designed for use with the TrimMaster trims. This product meets the 1/4" expansion requirement
If you are using tile set in thin set or mortar a better choice would be RS-Step Tile Trim available on line from THD.com. If you are using alternative countertop materials that fit in LVT trim it will be okay. Just be sure to anchor the leg properly to the counter top substrate

Smaller smudges and scuffs make be improved with gentle cleaner and rag. A scratch that has broken the surface cannot be easily repaired. Although in this case Satin Silver color is a clear anodized and the is the same color all the way through the metal.
Make sure the adjoining ends are as flush as possible.
We are assuming that the flooring is already installed, and you are just replacing the transition. If that is the case, you can flip this profile over using top edge (1 1/4" wide). This would work if the existing U-channel is fixed and can accommodate the 3/8" t-Shape rail. You will need to fill the U-channel with adhesive or silicone to secure the trim to the u-channel and subfloor. Thier may be a better option in the carpet trim set that is designed to use a U-channel application for multi-floor applications.

Flooring up to 5.5mm total thickness will work in this profile. For larger profiles choose the TrimMaster 8mm product
This reducer transition strip is designed for transitions between flooring surfaces of different heights, not for use as a stair edge. Stair edges require specialized profiles that provide safety and durability for foot traffic. Using a standard transition strip on stairs could create a tripping hazard.
This transition strip accommodates flooring up to 8.2mm thick. Please check the thickness of your LVT planks to ensure compatibility.
The bottom anchor leg is 1.25" wide and the top is 1/2" wide.

I'm running into the same problem, but can't find any information. I'm going to try shaving off the interlocking grooves on the pieces in question and using glue on the affected piece so that I can tuck it into the T-molding and drop it into place.
I don’t see any reason that you can’t, but the paint may not be as durable

However as long as you are okay with the finish quality on the back it should be okay. I would make sure to adhere the trim to the floor with a general purpose adhesive or screws. Also make sure the bottom edge of the flooring fits in the opening. It would also be a good idea to run a small bead of adhesive along the edge of the trim to allow the floor

I used a hand held reciprocating saw & it was a pretty simple cut. I did clamp both ends down while cutting & used a hand held metal filer to smooth the ends.

Anodized finishes are meant to last a long time and are weather resistant. IF you decide to paint it a different color, you should thoroughly clean the metal, use etching primer, sandpaper to smooth any bumps and consider using an oil based paint to achieve the best adhesion to the aluminum surface.

Please be sure to use spacers for a straight and evenly spaceed edge (cosmetic) ALSO IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU IMMEDIATELY WIPE OFF ANY GROUT OR RESIDUE FROM THE FACE OF THE TRIM. Failure to do so may result in discoloration of the finish which would void the finish warranty.
We have reached out to the manufacturer and their answer is, Yes you can add a grout line between the edge of the square cap and the tile. Please be sure to use spacers for a straight and evenly spaceed edge (cosmetic) ALSO IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU IMMEDIATELY WIPE OFF ANY GROUT OR RESIDUE FROM THE FACE OF THE TRIM. Failure to do so may result in discoloration of the finish which would void the finish warranty.

We have reached out to the manufacturer and their answer is, the trim product is designed to allow for 1/4” expansion of a floating floor around the perimeter. However when used on a stair tread the trim and the flooring on the tread should be permently affixed for safety reasons

A general construction adhesive will work but use a urethane modified urethane adhesive for best results.

You can find pin metal that has the carpet gripper and then an overlap of metal to cover the edge of the tile if the tile is at the same level as the carpet. There are a lot of factors otherwise depending on the tile installation. Typically all you need to do is install a couple of thinner or one wider strip of tackless away from the edge of the tile about the thickness of the carpet and tuck the edge of the carpet down next to the tile after you've stretched it and cut it . I use a vinyl knife to push the carpet into the gap.

Once installed you may take a rubber mallet and gently tap down the lip of the product so it is secure to the top edge of the flooring

Yes. I used a power hacksaw blade. Vibrates. Need to clamp to cutting surface to reduce vibration.
