FAQ – Common Questions

The complete guide to selecting the perfect floor transition for your home. Professional results made easy.

Choosing the right floor transition strip is essential for a professional-looking installation that’s safe, functional, and enhances your home’s appearance. The right transition protects your flooring investment, prevents tripping hazards, and creates seamless connections between different floor surfaces.

Consider Your Flooring Types

The first step is identifying what types of flooring you’re connecting. Different material combinations require specific transition solutions:

The primary difference between 22 mil and 8 mm in flooring is that they measure two completely different, non-interchangeable aspects of a plank: mil measures the protective top layer (wear layer), while mm measures the total thickness of the plank.

22 mil (Wear Layer): Refers to 22 thousandths of an inch of clear, protective coating on top. This determines scratch, stain, and scuff resistance. 22 mil is considered high-quality, durable, and suitable for heavy residential or commercial traffic.
8 mm (Overall Thickness): Refers to the total height of the plank, including the backing, core, and wear layer. An 8 mm plank is quite thick, generally providing better stability, comfort underfoot, and sound insulation
Is the flooring height 16mm or 6mm? The width of the 8mm Reducer will cover about an inch over the top onto the other flooring substrate. The 8mm height of this Reducer will work with 6mm height flooring, simply tap down the Reducer top until flush with your 6mm height flooring. However, do not tap down the Reducer if using tile. Please reference the install videos on the item's product page.
We are currently producing 12mm profile sizes, but do not have active 12mm transition strip at this time.
Yes, this transition strip can be used on outside steps.
Dear Valued Home Depot Customer,
We have reached out to the manufacturer and their answer is,
Yes, our reducer can accommodate a gentle arc as described. To facilitate the bend, cut the circles on the anchor leg to allow the trim to flex. When you cut the circles and form the arc, you’ll see an overlap – cut away the overlapping aluminum to allow the anchor leg to lay flush.
We do not currently offer 12mm trims but are working on it.
Yes, it is painted on all sides.
This is not typical use and would vary depending on type of threshold being used. Most installations end with the threshold covering the edge of the flooring.
For the cleanest cut, it is recommended to cut the aluminum transition strips on a miter saw, specifically using a carbide-tipped blade designed for non-ferrous metal. A high tooth count blade is crucial for making clean, burr-free cuts on aluminum metal, since it is a softer metal.
Yes, the square profile transition strip works great from LVP to carpet, it is recommend the heights are similar. TrimMaster transition strips are also able to be tapped down (when not using tile) to create an even more secure fit.
Yes, the aluminum Square Cap flooring transition strip is waterproof and can be used outside. Just make sure to avoid tapping down the square cap edge when using tile. We have a great installation video in the product's image carousal that is helpful when choosing the profile and flooring.
The best method is to install with but ends. Make sure the ends or cut straight. If necessary use a small metal file to smooth both ends for a snug fit.
No the size of the opening of the trim does not vary between finishes. I believe this was a admin error on line which has now been corrected. Thank you for your interest in our products
This product may be cut to size using a hack saw, rotary cutter or a miter saw. IF necessary use a file to smooth rough edges. Also be sure to wear the proper Safety equipment particularly eye protection.
Satin Nickel had been a traditional finish that was anodized. We are transitioning to a new anodized powder coat finish that provides superior performance. The new finish is slightly different than the old anodized finish. Please be sure to match trim pieces prior to leaving and store and before installation to ensure you have the look you desire.
In most cases yes... although a cleaner cut would be to use a miter saw with appropriate metal blade or hacksaw. Be sure to file off any loose edges and wear appropriate eye and safety equipment
yes this product can be used in multiple applications including vinyl and laminate tirm
yes. aluminum products may be installed in either interior or exterior applications
Sorry for any inconvenience. Our new mineral Bronze is an premium powder coat which is similar finish to a anodized look. Please contact TrimMaster customer service if you would like replacement products
The actual trim can be tapped down up to 3mm. it will tap down to 4mm but you may experience some slight deformation which is usually not visible from a standing position. When tapping down remember to use a rubber mallet and tapping block or cloth to minimize and damage to surface. use only enough force to achieve your desired height difference
This is a powder coat finish on aluminum. it is not recommended but can be done. it requires proper surface preparation, including cleaning, light sanding to create a rough surface for adhesion, and applying a high-quality primer specifically designed for metal before applying your top coat of paint; this ensures the paint will properly adhere to the powder coat layer. Since this is a floor application you should consider using an high grade epoxy based or enamel paint. Check with paint manufacturer for proper recommendations. Of course this would void the initial finish warranty.
I would recommend using a strong adhesive with bonding properties suitable for porcelain or ceramic tile. You may also want to consider using a double sided installation tape designed for use with the TrimMaster trims. This product meets the 1/4" expansion requirement
If you are using tile set in thin set or mortar a better choice would be RS-Step Tile Trim available on line from THD.com. If you are using alternative countertop materials that fit in LVT trim it will be okay. Just be sure to anchor the leg properly to the counter top substrate
Can i get corners for this moding
Yes this can be used as transition between carpets of similar heights
The floor lays on the am or leg and slide into the 8mm gap
Yes this application can be used interior or exterior

We have reached out to the manufacturer and their answer is, Thank you for your interest in our products. The 8mm product will only fit flooring thickness up to 8.2mm

Make sure the adjoining ends are as flush as possible.
We are assuming that the flooring is already installed, and you are just replacing the transition. If that is the case, you can flip this profile over using top edge (1 1/4" wide). This would work if the existing U-channel is fixed and can accommodate the 3/8" t-Shape rail. You will need to fill the U-channel with adhesive or silicone to secure the trim to the u-channel and subfloor. Thier may be a better option in the carpet trim set that is designed to use a U-channel application for multi-floor applications.
We do not at this time
Flooring up to 5.5mm total thickness will work in this profile. For larger profiles choose the TrimMaster 8mm product
This reducer transition strip is designed for transitions between flooring surfaces of different heights, not for use as a stair edge. Stair edges require specialized profiles that provide safety and durability for foot traffic. Using a standard transition strip on stairs could create a tripping hazard.
This transition strip accommodates flooring up to 8.2mm thick. Please check the thickness of your LVT planks to ensure compatibility.
The bottom anchor leg is 1.25" wide and the top is 1/2" wide.

I don’t see any reason that you can’t, but the paint may not be as durable
Thank you for your inquiry. We have moved the Satin Nickel products to high end anodized powder coat finish that provides better wear and longevity and is more eco friendly than our existing finish. It also allows a consistent finish in batch to batch.

Please contact customer service if you need additional assistance

Thank you for your inquiry we do not sell outside corner piece for this trim
Dear Valued Home Depot Customer,

We have reached out to the manufacturer and their answer is, The product is not designed specifically` to work in that situation. However as long as you are okay with the finish quality on the back it should be okay. I would make sure to adhere the trim to the floor with a general purpose adhesive or screws. Also make sure the bottom edge of the flooring fits in the opening. It would also be a good idea to run a small bead of adhesive along the edge of the trim to allow the floor
Dear Valued Home Depot Customer,

We have reached out to the manufacturer and their answer is, It can be applied with adhesive. Liquid nails will work but for best adhesion to concrete you should consider Urethane based product such as PL Premium 10 fl. oz. Polyurethane Construction Adhesive or a similar product. Dear Valued Home Depot Customer,

We have reached out to the manufacturer and their answer is, Yes, it is possible to paint, although not recommended. Also keep in mind it will void the finish warranty. Anodized finishes are meant to last a long time and are weather resistant. IF you decide to paint it a different color, you should thoroughly clean the metal, use etching primer, sandpaper to smooth any bumps and consider using an oil based paint to achieve the best adhesion to the aluminum surface.

Dear Valued Home Depot Customer,

We have reached out to the manufacturer and their answer is, The trim may easily be secured to floor depending on substrate. If securing to a wood sub floor, you may use general purpose construction adhesive or screws as fasteners.
For fixed Application Installation: Use a #4 OR #6 flat or tapered head screw with a minimum length ¾”, Install the fasteners so the screw head is as flush with the anchor leg as possible. If installing on concrete substrates the use of anchors is recommended. Install wood or plastic anchors, per the manufacturer instructions, into subfloor where the screws will be used to secure the trim.

In addition to or in place of you may also use a heavy-duty general-purpose adhesive. For best adhesion and bond consider using a urethane-based adhesive. Follow adhesion manufacturer instructions and safety precautions. IMMEDIATELY REMOVE ANY EXCESS ADHESIVE FROM THE FACE OF THE PROFILE.
Dear Valued Home Depot Customer,

We have reached out to the manufacturer and their answer is, Yes the product can be tapped down with a rubber mallet. Best practice would include using a tapping block or cloth to reduce possibility of scuffing. Gently tap the product down until it meets surface of flooring.
Dear Valued Home Depot Customer,

We have reached out to the manufacturer and their answer is, all of the trims have at least a 1/4" lip to accommodate manufacturing specifications. If you are using the "floating" method. Make sure that the edge of the floor and top of the edge of the profile are touching. This is part of the designed tap down feature. It is a good idea to put a small amount of adhesive or silicone in the groove when the flooring goes fits in. This well help to secure the floor as it expands and contracts around the perimeter wall.

Please be sure to use spacers for a straight and evenly spaceed edge (cosmetic) ALSO IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU IMMEDIATELY WIPE OFF ANY GROUT OR RESIDUE FROM THE FACE OF THE TRIM. A general construction adhesive will work but use a urethane modified urethane adhesive for best results.
Dear Valued Home Depot Customer,

We have reached out to the manufacturer and their answer is,
Use either a general purpose construction adhesive rated for wood subfloors or a urethane based. Best adhesion is achieved from a urethane based construction adhesive. Apply to bottom of trim taking care to wipe off any excess adhesive from the face of the trim
You can find pin metal that has the carpet gripper and then an overlap of metal to cover the edge of the tile if the tile is at the same level as the carpet. There are a lot of factors otherwise depending on the tile installation. Typically all you need to do is install a couple of thinner or one wider strip of tackless away from the edge of the tile about the thickness of the carpet and tuck the edge of the carpet down next to the tile after you've stretched it and cut it . I use a vinyl knife to push the carpet into the gap.
Thanks for reaching out Toby! This product is only for use on vinyl and resilient flooring, but all you need is the transition strip and calking to install.
Dear Valued Home Depot Customer,

We have reached out to the manufacturer and their answer is,Yes this product is easy to cut to appropriate length using a miter or chop saw... or a hand held hack saw. Once installed you may take a rubber mallet and gently tap down the lip of the product so it is secure to the top edge of the flooring
Yes. I used a power hacksaw blade. Vibrates. Need to clamp to cutting surface to reduce vibration.
Dear Valued Home Depot Customer,

We have reached out to the manufacturer and their answer is,“The longer width side goes down in the substrate
For the cleanest cut, it is recommended to cut the aluminum on a miter saw, specifically using a carbide-tipped blade designed for non-ferrous metal. A high tooth count blade is crucial for making clean, burr-free cuts on aluminum metal, since it is a softer metal. Please reference TrimMaster install video within the product listing page.
We do not currently have Satin Nickel corners available.
Dear Valued Home Depot Customer,
We have reached out to the manufacturer and their answer is,
The anchor leg on our TrimMaster tile trims is 1.25”.
Yes, this product can be adjusted to use as a radius. TrimMaster L-Shape products can be used to follow curved edges for floor or wall transitions. It is important to use metal snips and clip out the outer edge of the circle/holes on the anchor leg to facilitate a gradual bend without creasing the profile edge. The L-Shape trim can handle most standard architectural curves however it will not work with small or tight radius situation without causing a bend or kink in the main profile. It cannot be bent into a form a 90 or 45 degree bend. Consider using a miter cut for those applications or simply use a butt joint.
For the cleanest cut, it is recommended to cut the aluminum on a miter saw, specifically using a carbide-tipped blade designed for non-ferrous metal. A high tooth count blade is crucial for making clean, burr-free cuts on aluminum metal, since it is a softer metal.
You have a total height (including the hardrie board of 16mm or 66 inches.) If you transitioning to a vinyl floor that is 5mm then you need a Reducer that will cover at least 12mm or 1/2"
This trim can work with tiles up to 1/2" thick (12mm). The anodized satin silver finish is a soft matte finish. If you are looking for a really shiny finish, consider our polished chrome finish.
You can paint PVC trim, but it's crucial to use a high-quality paint and follow specific preparation steps for a durable finish. Proper preparation includes cleaning the surface, lightly scuffing it with sandpaper for better adhesion, and applying a bonding primer specifically designed for slick surfaces like PVC. Finally, apply a 100% acrylic latex quality paint. PVC trims are only designed for vertical or wall surface applications and not for horizontal or foot traffic areas.
No, a square edge cannot be joined with a bullnose.
We do not manufacture corner profiles for L Shape products. Use a miter cut for corner connections
The champagne finish tile trim matches Delta's champagne bronze fixtures.
without an actual sample this is difficult to answer.... but based on the image and color of the fixture on line... It appears our Satin Gold would be the closest match. We also have a new mineral bronze finish that you may want to consider or perhaps the new champagne finish. Please check for appropriate finish offset before installing
No this is not recommended for outdoor exposure
No this is not recommended for outdoor exposure.
The product is 98 1/2 inches long, so it effectively covers 8 ft.
yes.. the 3/8" is generally designed for 10mm and smaller tiles
The Matte Black in a matte finish or would be closer to a flat finish. There is an option for a bright black finish if you are looking for a glossy finish
no. PVC is a plastic that is not bendable with enough memory to hold its shape when used to go around corners or slight curvatures .
yes this trim is commonly used in this application. It is waterproof and the anodized chrome finish will hold up fine for water and common shower related environment. Make sure when installing that any thin set or grout is removed immediately as they may discolor the finish.
the product is 98.5" inches in lenght. It is approximately 3/*8" in height
CAP Product Expert did not answer how wide the horizontal strip is.
We do not offer a brushed nickel at this time. You may be referring to our new satin nickel finish. HD offers a new finish called Champagne that is a close match to the traditional anodized satin nickel finish.
we don't recommend painting it, but it is possible. PVC can be painted but it has to be prepared correctly and it needs to be painted with paints that are formulated for PVC.

Here's a breakdown of key considerations:
1. Paint Selection:
100% Acrylic Latex Paint: Opt for a paint specifically formulated for interior PVC surfaces.
Light Colors: Avoid dark colors, as they can absorb heat and cause PVC to warp.
Light Reflective Value (LRV): Choose paints with an LRV of 55 or higher (Flat Black=0, pure white=100).
Specialized PVC Paints: Consider paints designed for plastic or UPVC surfaces, as they offer better adhesion.
2. Surface Preparation:
Clean Thoroughly: Wash, rinse, and allow the PVC trim to dry completely.
Scuff Sand: Lightly scuff-sand the surface with 220-grit sandpaper to improve paint adhesion.
Wipe Clean: Remove any sanding dust with a tack cloth or a clean, damp cloth.
Prime (Optional but Recommended): Apply a coat of acrylic latex primer designed for exterior PVC surfaces.
Tile trims generally correlate well to the height of the tile matching the same recommendation on the trim.. In some cases it may be necessary to go up one size to allow for a thicker mortar or thin set bed. In your case the 3/8" size should work allowing you some room for flexibility. The top edge of the trim should set flush or slightly lower than the edge of the tile.
This tile edging trim is designed for use with tile and stone, primarily in areas like walls, exterior wall corners, kitchen countertops, and backsplashes. While it could potentially be used as mirror trim, it's important to consider if the L-shape profile and material are suitable for your specific mirror and desired aesthetic. For example, the trim is designed to accommodate tiles up to 3/8" thick. If your mirror is thicker than this it may not be a suitable trim. It's always best to check the product specifications and consider if its design aligns with your project needs.
The diameter of the holes on TrimMaster tile trim is 5/8". They are designed to allow the mortar or thinset to be pressed into the mortar bed and then using a trowel to smooth over and encase the anchor leg into the mortar bed.
There is a 2 inch height between the bottom edge and the lip of the tile. This product is designed work with 3/8" or less tile thickness
the trim is designed to work with tiles of to 1/2" in width
The inside of the diameter of the round holes is 1/2". The holes are designed to allow thinset to squeeze up through the holes allowing the installer to trowel over the anchor leg, encasing it in thinset and ensuring enough thinset on the top of the anchor leg to secure the tile
Satin Silver or Satin Nickel would be good choices to complement your fixtures. Check actual color samples before installation
The product is 9/16" wide so it covers a fairly narrow gap. Please measure the width of the gap. A better choice might be a traditional saddle threshold (found in weatherstrip aisle at HD ) or same product in the Carpet Trim set labeled as a seam binder
I bought what they call the "5/16 inch profile", but that was the total height. it was not enough for a 5/16 inch tile once you lay it on the trim backing and thinset. Another brand's "5/16" actually accommodates a 5/16 tile. is "3/8" different?
No if you are using a 3/8 or 10mm tile, the 3/9" size is the proper recommendation. After installing the trim set the tile as normal. The trim piece should set slightly lower than the top of the trim.
Yesz the trim can also be cut or mitered to complete a inside or outside corner
Yes. It should not be exposed to direct sunlight flame, but should be fine for indirect heat around the fireplace
Is the 3/8” 10mm size. 1 or 2 mm is easily adjusted based on the amount of thin set you use
The pictures ar a little deceiving based on the angle. Both both product refuse down to zero
Yes this is the appropriate size trim
PVC may become brittle over time and is not recommended for flooring
Yes this should 3/8" is approximately 9.52mm
Yes. the should fit your tile. 3/8" is 9.52mm
Recommend a 5/16" 8mm trim
This is clear anodized and would be suitable for indoor or outdoor use.
When navigating inside and outside corners with the Bullnose STEP trim, it is necessary to miter the two edges for a smooth cut. These best results are obtained using a Miter Saw with an appropriate metal blade
Yes, the PVC can be used in showers, however a better choice is one of the aluminum products such as the 8701BW98 (5/16" Bright White).
No, indoors only.

Dear Valued Home Depot Customer,

We have reached out to the manufacturer and their answer is,Yes, this item will work with peel and stick wall tiles. If the adhesive on the wall tile is not strong enough to create a secure bond to the anchor leg of our tile trim, you may want to add a thin bead of construction adhesive to improve surface contact. Please consult the tile manufacturer before adding the adhesive to ensure you use a compatible product to their particular PSA.
Dear Valued Home Depot Customer,

We have reached out to the manufacturer and their answer is,This trim is ideal for a shower application.
Dear Valued Home Depot Customer,

We have reached out to the manufacturer and their answer is,The great news is that there is no wrong answer! This trim is functional, but it's also a décor piece, meaning you can match the trim to your tile and have the trim blend or match the trim to your existing hardware to create a coordinating contrast to your tile. We've seen beautiful results in both design approaches.
wondering this myself.. concerned about the edge layer of tile being angled out slightly with a double layer of adhesive mat being used (under and over the hidden portion of the edge trim). Can customer service chime in?
No, direct water contact is not recommended.

Mike

We have reached out to the manufacturer and their answer is,Sorry about the online typo. Thank you for calling it to our attention. We will correct that information. The product you referenced is in fact PVC. It can be used on a backsplash or behind the stove. We do not recommend trying to paint the PVC product.
The corners are designed to be used with our aluminum profiles. Please check the appropriate product numbers on each package that the corners will match with.
Not recommended, particularly in high traffic areas. We offer a new Bright Brass finish that may meet you objectives.

It is possible to paint over mill finish aluminum trim, but it's crucial to use the right products and techniques to ensure a durable and long-lasting finish.
Here's a more detailed explanation:
Preparation is Key:
Before painting, properly clean and prepare the surface removing any natural aluminum oxidation..
Choose the Right Products:
Use a high-quality, exterior-grade paint specifically designed for metal, such as acrylic latex or polyurethane coatings recommended for aluminum
Etch Primer:
An etch primer is recommended for aluminum to enhance paint adhesion and durability.
Application:
Apply multiple thin, even coats of paint, allowing each coat to dry completely before applying the next.
Consider a Clear Sealant:
Applying a clear sealant after painting can add extra protection and enhance the durability of the painted finish.
Compatible with most tile trim products including Custom building products, Schluter, and more.

We have reached out to the manufacturer and their answer is,Thank you for the interest in our product. We do not currently have corners available for the new Mineral Bronze Finish so you will need to miter cut.
Yes this profile is designed to cover a 3/4" gap
It will not be an exact match since the trim is not "brushed". Satin Nickel finishes vary between manufacturers so please confirm before final installation
The U-Shape (Universal Reducer) does indeed have a straight edge grout line feature. Perhaps the angle of the picture you referred does to illustrate it.
That is not what the product is designed for. It is a similar profile for those types of projects. We have seen a lot of creative uses of these profiles, but once again, not what it was designed for thus unable to officially recommend this as a use.
Yes it can be used in the shower.
This product can be used in the shower, but we recommend using the Satin Silver finish in this profile. The clear anodized (satin silver) offers superior protection against chemicals, soaps, cleaners typically used in a residential shower. The product number would me H8702MA98

This T-Shaped Tile Edging Trim is designed to be used between two tiles of similar heights, such as a transition between tile and another hard surface. It won't effectively cover both the inside and outside edges of a shower niche like an L-shaped trim would. You'll need an L-shaped trim for the exposed edges of the tile inside and outside the niche.
Dear Valued Home Depot Customer, we have reached out to the manufacturer and their reply is, "This profile is a large profile and using a miter saw with a metal cutting blade would be the best. It may also be cut using a hack saw or rotary tool with metal blade. Use appropriate personal safety equipment such as safety glasses."
Leave small gap for grout as it looks better and makes a smooth edge finish!
Always leave the Gap
Thank you for your interest. Yea the new textured white is matte finish
This product is okay for out door exposure. Thank you for your interest in our products
Yes, you can paint this aluminum tile edging trim. Here's a guide on how to do it and what type of paint to use:

**Preparing the Trim:**

1. **Clean the trim:** Use a degreaser or a mixture of mild dish soap and water to remove any dirt, grease, or oils. Rinse thoroughly and let it dry completely.
2. **Lightly sand:** Use fine-grit sandpaper (around 220-grit) to lightly scuff the surface. This will help the primer and paint adhere better. Wipe away any sanding dust with a clean cloth.

**Priming:**

1. **Choose a primer:** Use a metal primer specifically designed for aluminum. A self-etching primer is a good option as it helps create a stronger bond with the metal.
2. **Apply the primer:** Apply a thin, even coat of primer to the entire surface of the trim. Let it dry completely according to the manufacturer's instructions.

**Painting:**

1. **Choose a paint:** Use an acrylic latex paint or a paint specifically designed for metal. Choose a high-quality paint that is durable and moisture-resistant, especially if the trim will be used in a high-moisture area like a bathroom.
2. **Apply the paint:** Apply thin, even coats of paint, allowing each coat to dry completely before applying the next. Two or three coats may be necessary for full coverage.
3. **Finishing:** Once the final coat of paint is dry, you can apply a clear sealant for added protection, especially if the trim will be exposed to moisture or wear and tear.

By following these steps and using the right materials, you can successfully paint the silver trim white to match your desired aesthetic.
Dear Valued Home Depot Customer,

We have reached out to the manufacturer and their answer is,Unless you have an unusual design, a more typical profile would be to use the L-Shape profile. The T-Shape is meant as a transition between two sufaces. Typical use would be on a floor joining to similar height surfaces, or on the wall as an accent piece.
They do not come in Black at this time for our Square Shape profiles. The profile is not offered in black as well.
Dear Valued Home Depot Customer,

We have reached out to the manufacturer and their answer is,They do not come in Black at this time for our Square Shape profiles. The profile is not offered in black as well.
Hello William,

Thank you for your recent inquiry with The Home Depot. While the finish will be similar, it will not be exact, and antique bronze is not an available trim through Trim Master. We appreciate your business and look forward to serving you in the future.
Dear Valued Home Depot Customer,

We have reached out to the manufacturer and their answer is,Thank you for the inquiry on this profile. for a 12.5mm size tile you would require a 1/2" size profile. At the current time this profile is only offered in a 3/8" size.
Dear Valued Home Depot Customer,

We have reached out to the manufacturer and their answer is,Silver is a mill finished product and is not anodized before shipments. Satin Silver is a clear anodized product that gives the profile a uniform clear, softer satin look as well as addtional protection against salt water or other chemicals. Anodizing increases the products corrosion and wear resistance. Both products are acceptable for interior applications. Satin Silver would be a better choice for exterior applications.
Dear Valued Home Depot Customer,

We have reached out to the manufacturer and their answer is,The top width of this product is 9/16" Leave at least 3/16" spacing and fill the void with silicone or adhesiv
Dear Valued Home Depot Customer,

We have reached out to the manufacturer and their answer is, Thank you for considering our products and shopping the Home Depot. Inside and outside corners will be available after for shipments in Jan 2023
Dear Valued Home Depot Customer,

We have reached out to the manufacturer and their answer is,The long leg that is visible after installation and covers the stair edge and part of the riser is 2" (inches). Tha Anchor leg that is set in mortar with tile covering it is 1.2"(inches)
Depends on the color. Corners available for some colors but not all
Dear Valued Home Depot Customer,

We have reached out to the manufacturer and their answer is,The size of the tile trim should be consistent with the height of the tile. So in this case the correct choice is 3/8" tile trim. When setting the trim, the top edge should be level to slightly lower (1/16") than the height of the trim
Dear Valued Home Depot Customer,

We have reached out to the manufacturer and their answer is,Thank you for your purchase. We are sorry to hear that you had this issue. It was almost certainly damaged in transit. It would be our preference to ship you a replacement order. If you would contact our customer service department we rush you another order at no charge.
Dear Valued Home Depot Customer,

We have reached out to the manufacturer and their answer is,5/16" Tile Trim would be the choice for floor applications and should be fairly flush to slightly lower than tile height of the tile. This is basic recommendation for floors. But since this is likely a wall or backsplash installation you might consider a 3/8" product which is what you have referenced in this question. There is only 1/16" of a difference between the two sizes, which gives you a little more flexibility on making sure it is flush with the tile. Depending on the installer, the final height of the tile can vary slightly depending on the depth of the thinset or how hard you set the tile. Either size would be acceptable in this case.
One of the benefits of PVC trims is they are easy to cut. The best way to cut plastic profiles is with a fine-toothed rotary saw. This gives a neater cut than using a wide-toothed saw as it reduces burred and jagged edges. The more teeth on the saw the better the cut. PVC trims may also be cut using appropriate snips. If using in a corner, consider a miter box and saw.
It is not recommended to notch and bend powder-coated aluminum due to the risk of cracking or damaging the surface.
Dear Valued Home Depot Customer,

We have reached out to the manufacturer and their answer is, Assuming you are not using thin-set for the tile. If you are using either a Peel & Stick or the Custom Building Products SimpleMat for the backsplash then it is okay to use adhesive. . If that is the case you may use a general purpose adhesive to secure the trim. Be sure to coat both sides of the anchor leg. Immediately wipe any excess adhesive off of the profile and finish.
The top edge of this trim is 9/16" wide. It should work well for any gap smaller than that width
It will depend on the format you are using is it a tile that will be glued on, a tile with thin set and how much, usually I would use 3/8” if 1/4” tile and 1/8 to 3/16 grout
Dear Valued Home Depot Customer,

We have reached out to the manufacturer and their answer is, Yes it can be used in shower. Please make sure to IMMEDIATLYYY WIPE off any excess grout or mortar off this finish after installation
Dear Valued Home Depot Customer,

We have reached out to the manufacturer and their answer is, The total width including the anchor leg (that goes in the thin set) is 1.5" inches. The width of just the visible profile edge is about 1/2" inch
You would normally miter the corners so no cut edges are visible.
Yes, we use permanent markers, such as sharpie. However, paint or spray paint can also be used
I used mine from tile to carpet into the bedrooms. Not sure if this one is the correct item to use from tile to hardwood
Worked perfectly for transition from concrete floor to tiled surface of roughly 3/8inches. Molding was damaged in shipment. Luckily I only needed 24 inches.
The small edge is about 1/8". This amount should be acceptable on the other side too. However, I would confirm your tile & underlayment thickness prior to purchasing and installing any products.
Dear Valued Home Depot Customer,

We have reached out to the manufacturer and their answer is, Yes you mayuse it. As a transition but it must be installed with the tile
Since it’s PVC it can be painted, yes. I recommend using a little piece of sandpaper to rough it up a bit to hold paint better.
Hello , thank you for your recent inquiry with The Home Depot. We have investigated your question and have determined that we do not recommend the bull nose be painted due to it be glossy where it wont sick. We appreciate your business and look forward to serving you in the future.
I would not recommend if for this purpose
Dear Valued Home Depot Customer,

We have reached out to the manufacturer and their answer is, yes this is an appropriate use of this transition
Dear Valued Home Depot Customer,

We have reached out to the manufacturer and their answer is,

You would probably be better off with the 5/16" reducer. If not then make sure the mortar bed is a little higher so edge of the trim is only slightly lower the tile
Dear Valued Home Depot Customer,

We have reached out to the manufacturer and their answer is, Shape profile is used when you prefer to reveal more of the profile as a décor accent versus the L-Shape or when you are installing tile along a corner.
No it is for interior tile work.
I used indoor wall splash.
Hi handydad,

I have provided for you the "Product Brochure" link form the product information page on homedepot.com. I hope this is helpful for you. We appreciate your business and look forward to serving you in the future. Thank you for shopping Home Depot!

You can use power tools to cut this material but I found using a hack saw and going nice and slow was better for me so I wouldn’t scratch it up!
Very few companies do, most tile installers cut at a 45 degree and install.
No they do not, to go around corners you can cut a 45 degree angle on the edging trim with a miter saw with a blade for cutting aluminum, a hacksaw and a miter box or a angle grinder with a thin metal blade for aluminum. There are videos on the internet that show each of these styles for cutting tile edging trim.
I am answering my own question because I was informed it could not be deleted. I was not thinking about also covering the top edge of the extended tile. I realized that then that both trim parts would be cut to form a closed corner. No cap needed, lol.
I would ask the manufacturer.
3/8" is approximately 9.5 mm. If you use the trim shown, you will either have to use additional thinset or mastic to bring your tile out to the trim surface, or allow the trim to be a little "proud." Either way, it should work fine.
I would recommend leaving a grout line when doing a miter cut to ensure no water can seep between the cut.
Very easy to miter, I used aviation snips to cut, and fit. If you have a powered miter saw that cut aluminum with no muss, no fuss!
Either way works. I think it looks more professional if you grout the miter.
Not same as chrome..

silver is a brushed finish, similar to stainless steel

Satin silver is also a brushed finish it has a light brown tinge in color. Like some of the plumbing fixtures..
As I recall when last purchasing this product, there were different shades available, including chrome (shiny), a non-shiny satin-type shade (not sure if this was labeled nickel or chrome), white, and bronze-like. The selection seemed to vary from store to store. Sorry that I cannot be more specific but it's been awhile since I last made the purchase.
i dont think so, get the metal version of it for that or us a small piece of wood on the wall or some thin piece of other metal edging
You could install the tiles right over the counter top but you would need to put spacers so that you have a joint like the rest of the tiles grout joints. I usually prefer to use the tile edging right over the counter top (with no spacers) and then install the tiles. It makes a much nicer looking job, in my opinion.

I install the edging using the same adhesive that I use for the tiles, and then let it dry. Then I install the tiles on top of it. This method is especially useful behind the stove, where there is no countertop to hold things straight. When I install the edging I make sure to enbed it into the adhesive as far as it will go, and then scrape off all the adhesive from the top of the tile edging flange so that the tiles have a flat surface to stick on. After it dries it would easily prevent any tile from sliding down while the tile adhesive cures.
14 mm or 25 mm. You can order either from Home Depot
Dear Valued Home Depot Customer,

We have reached out to the manufacturer and their reply is, The top of the T (which is the visible profile of the trim after application) is 9/16" wide
I don't see a question. I usually miter my corners. Premade corners make for a great finish but I've never seen them for Customs trims.
We cut mitre. Looks fine. We are not too picky.
I found it but I had to look through the bullnose because people put other bullnose behind the one I wanted.
Dear Valued Home Depot Customer,

We have reached out to the manufacturer and their reply is,

"The discoloration is likely permanent. It is important when installing anodized finishes to immediately wipe the exposed edge. Please contact our customer service. As a gesture of good will they may send you replacement product at not cost. Cement is a widely used ingredient in products used in construction including mortars and grouts. A corrosive alkali, calcium hydroxide is liberated as water is added to the lime present in the cement mixture. Skin contact for prolonged periods can produce deep chemical burns. This same caustic chemical reaction can damage the surface of tile trims.

When using tile trim, floor trims or working near anodized aluminum thresholds the end users or installers must be aware of proper care and maintenance. Anodized finishes have been used for decades to protect aluminum and the technology for anodizing has improved over time creating tougher, longer lasting finishes. Although this is the case, the caustic ingredients contained in cementitious products such as mortar and grout, can cause discoloration on anodized surfaces. It is important that any residue of mortar and/or grout be immediately removed to prevent damage to the finish.

In addition to immediately removing mortar or grout residue do not use cleaning agents with hydrochloric and hydrofluoric acid. Aggressive or abrasive cleaners should not be used on anodized aluminum as they may scratch the surface. Use a gentle household cleaner or simply water.
Yes. you can use the PVC or the aluminum in your shower room. They don't rust.
Poor quality. Cracked easily

No. You will have to buy two pieces. And then, cut the second piece to fit the extra length. It's not unusual to have to cut to fit multiple pieces along a length or at a corner.
Hi Scratched, thank you for your inquiry. Unfortunately we do not offer a spray paint that would match this item on Homedepot.com at this time. We appreciate your business and look forward to serving you in the future. Thank you for shopping Home Depot!
No . try using bull nose tile that matches or bull nose tile in a complementry style.
Yes
" The L-Shape Bright White in an aluminum trim that is finished in a powder coat finish. It will not rust or discolor. Avoid using any harsh chemical cleaners if possible. "
This will not rust as its aluminum. This will not turn color unless it is died by outside sources, such as dies in shampoo or cleaners. this has a durable paint coating that's easy to clean.
We have cut the LEG, part that goes under the tile off, and silicones it to the tile edge. Tape it overnight, until it has cured
These trim pieces work well but you'll need to anticipate their installation, the trim is secured between the tile and the adhesive. Can't be installed after the tile has been attached.
The unique design of the tile trims allow you to snip or cut the perforated track, which then allows a reasonable bend radius without buying perforated or pre cut metal.
No, it does not come in polished chrome.
It's a mitre on the corners
Yes we do have this product which includes inside and outside corners. They are being set up on HD.com and should be available soon...
The 3/8 dimension in the name of this edging refers to the thickness of the tile it it intended for. You can use this for a 1/4" thick tile, but the edge will be taller than the thickness of the tile. It would look and little better if you use something closer to 1/4" or perhaps 5/16". The grout will fill the gap, but it will be taller than the tile.

Hopes this answers your question.
5/8 inch from grout line to ramp bottom. Molding has built in spacer at grout edge, so allow a little less than 1/8 inch.
The dimensions are:

Diameter (in.) - .375

Product Length (in.) - 98.5

Product Width (in.) - 0.375

Maximum Tile Thickness - up to 3/8 in. (10 mm)

It will bend and not give a nice straight line. Also a good chance the tile will not fit into the grove.

hacksaw or small grinder works well.
I used it around the window in my kitchen. It was a way to transition from tile to the window. Not sure about scrubbing it.
I BOUGHT MINE LAST WEEK FOR BATHROOM NICHES .
IT IS WORKING PRETTY GOOD SO FAR .
No, it does not come in 10 ft.
No, this does not come in black.
unfortunately we do not have some at this time but they are in development, please check in with us in a few months.
Dear Valued Home Depot Customer,

We have reached out to the manufacturer and their reply is,

"These products are being placed in inventory and being set up in the THD system. They should be active within the next 45 days. Sorry for any inconvenience."
we do have outside corner piece but they are not sold thru Home Depot yet.

No, it does not come in other colors.
You can use screws that catch part of the bottom trim, but best to place a thin coat of thin set, place trim and then apply normal thin set and place tile in it.
Yes I used it between my vinyl plank and tile I dont like transitions that stick up higher than the flooring to stump ties on so this worked for my application perfectly I wish I had a better picture though
I have never used it for this purpose, however, if it was fastened down I think it would work fairly well. Keep in mind the thickness of the vinyl in relation to the thickness of the metal edge and the fact most vinyl flooring is installed as a floating floor which would allow for a little movement.
I actually do not know if this product comes in flat black, I needed it for tile work at the edge of my staircase going down into my basement, the product is solid and it looks very very good and I would definitely recommend this product to anybody, as far as different colors that it isManufactured in I’m not very sure I was looking for the satin nickel finish and that was the first I seen I did not inquire about any other color, but like I said this product is 100% solid and I would recommend it to any tile installer
It doesn't really transition to a set lower height. It offers a transition between two different materials, like linoleum to carpet. If you tilt it, you can transition from one height to another, but it really depends on your installation.
About 1/8 inch.
All of the Custom labeled tile trims that include an integrated grout spacer ensure a uniform joint of 1/16" - 1/8" (1.5 - 3 mm)
Dear Valued Home Depot Customer,

We have reached out to the manufacturer and their answer is,All of the Custom labeled tile trims that include an integrated grout spacer ensure a uniform joint of 1/16" - 1/8" (1.5 - 3 mm).
I use grout for gaps.
This does not need the use of grout for the gaps because it is integrated with a straight edge grout line.
Yes, it can be used in showers
Yes it is adonized aluminum in satin silver looks very nice
Yes, it is anodized.
Generally speaking they are compatible, not a prefect fit but workable.

We are in process of developing our own corners which will be coming in 2020.
Thank you for your recent inquiry with The Home Depot.

Currently we are unable to find Corner Pieces of this color and make on our sight.

We appreciate your business and look forward to serving you in the future.
Depending on your mastic or mud depth, the 1/2 inch edging may protrude above the tile. I prefer using a narrower edge for my applications.
corner pieces is not something we produce at this time.
No, this product only comes in 98 1/2 inch lengths
No you can only buy this is this length
To my knowledge trim pieces are only available in 8'lengths
Holds up perfect! I have used it many times for the shower niche. I like to use the corner pieces with it though.
This trim will hold up great, its made for all areas.
you may use our anodized products as they will not rust, any other finish is not recommended.
Yes, it can be used in a shower.
You could. It's aluminum so it won't rust. But, it's meant to be used on top or the side where you don't want to see the raw edge of a tile.
I used Straight tin snips.
Any metal cutting blade such as a hacksaw or a heavy duty metal snips
I use a standard chop saw with a good, carbide tipped blade.
A standard chop saw with a good carbide tipped blade.
I wanted PERFECT miters because I used it on a bathroom backsplash that will be under bright lighting. I used my radial arm saw with a fine-tooth non-ferrous metal cutting blade & it worked great. Extremely smooth straight cuts. It was a bit of a challenge holding the pieces because my saw only angles to the right - but a piece of 3/8" plywood fits under it when you have to turn it "upside down" & a piece of 3/4" fits if you need to stand it up like to cut an inside corner miter.
I honestly am not sure. I didn’t do the timing I just bought the products for my tile guy.
You need to measure the tile thickness to metal. You may need to build it up.
The trim is designed to be used with 10 mm Tile. While you can vary minor differences in height, depending on the depth of the mortar bed, a better choice might be the 5/16” size
I think it might. It's not that expensive as I recall to try it.
That's not really the proper use. How would you build it in place?

I'd say no.
Yes. 25mm wide. Home Depot has it if you would just do a search.
I was unable to find any 1" either on line or in the stores (Home Depot, Lowes, or Menards or the tile stores) I visited, so I had to settle and adapt.
anything wider or deeper than 9/16 will most likely have to be special ordered and probably direct from schluter systems and it will cost you
yes it can.
1/4” just enough to grab the grout in the joints
9/16 is dept 98-1/2 is length
depth from the top to bottom of center piece is 3/8"
The bottom edge of the trim. You can use some general household glue or mastic on the bottom of the trim to affix. It to the wall. The adhesive back of the peel and stick should be sufficient to secure the tile to the trim.
Yes, that's what it would be used for. Its a decorative end and works great with stone and tiles that do not offer finished edges.
Yes it can be used on outside corner. You should miter cut both ends.
Yes, this product is designed for tiled wall corners.
we only recommend anodized products and they are treated.
Yes
Yes, aluminum construction. .
Yes, as aluminum does not corrode in water.
Yes, it is 90 degrees
YES it is 90 degrees
Yes, the angle is 90 degrees.
We do not know of a special tool you might be able to use, sizes are standard. But it is aluminum so you should be able to spread it open a little at your discretion.
The tile is not intended to slide underneath the "c" shaped opening of this trim but rather aligns up next to it, preferably having the face of the tile be slightly below the trim. Then once your tile is set, you would apply grout along the straight line that is created between your tile and the trim piece.
No, you need to buy the correct size for the thickness of your tile.
"Thank you for your question. The answer to your question is: No aluminum does not rust. This product also has an anodized finish which means it is even more resistant to wear from normal handling and use, and will reduce any corrosion and help prevent oxidation. These products are made for use in showers and wet situations. You should enjoy many years of trouble free service. It is easy to clean with gentle soap and water and should easily wipe clean. Do no use abrasive or caustic solvents.
I just used a grinder cut off wheel. Or a cut off wheel on a rotozip or similar rotational tool.
4 inch angle grinder, & a carpenter's square will give you a clean 45 degree corner.
I installed the perforated side of the trim on top of the cement board, under the tile. the sloped part sits on top of the carpet that abuts the tile to cover the edge of the carpet. depending on your application, the sloped part could butt up against the edge of the lower floor.
it depends on the conditioning of the floor, both methods can be applied.
For me it sat on top since I was tiling on a cement floor. Great transition.
Store SKU #1001558350 $18.97 each...
Our Part# is H8712SN98,
I believe HD SKU# is 1001-558-350 but I would double check with Home Depot.
I've used this for trim at the curb in the shower, so that part is constantly exposed to water. I also used in between two types of tile in the shower wall. I haven't had any issues with it, corrosion or otherwise.
Yes, I used this for the same thing.
This can be used in your shower because the product is anodized, BUT since you'll be cutting the product down, you'll be exposing raw aluminum which will HAVE to be sealed somehow.
It is meant to be the finishing edge for tile with no finished edge. Yes it can be used in the shower.
I've used it at a curb in the shower, and in the shower wall between two tile types. No chipping or corrosion issues. It's been installed about a year.
I would say its more of like a “mill finish” aluminim wich looks brushed. Not shiny, but opaque.
No, it's anodized aluminum in a silver finish.
yes
This item is not brushed, it is untreated aluminum.
No. It’s made as a trim for the edging of a tile. Do not use this as bullnose.
Yes, you could definitely use this rather than a bullnose. I have seen this done in many instances. Also, tile will chip at the edge, this may even provide a little more durability.

Not exactly the same, but it achieves a similar look. I considered using a bullnose on the curb of my new shower, ultimately went with larger tiles and trim pieces to reduce the number of joints. Ultimately, we are very satisfied with the look. We think it even dresses it up a bit.
I set mine in place with the first tile. I then just applied the thinset as i went along with the additional tile as I went. the holes in the trim are large enough i could get a bond to the wall behind, locking in the trim.

If you need to have the trim set before you can start setting tile, it might work to then set in the trim first, then set all tile afterwards at your pace.
I used the edging as the start point, end point was a corner. Either way, you will be cutting tile to fit, unless you are incredibly lucky.

Use the end that you will most easily see as the start, put the cuts in an area that isn't obvious. If you just want to hold the edge in place, try that 3M product, #77.
not at the moment but we are working on releasing corner pieces sometime this year.
You can form a corner with it the way you can put it around your tile corners there aren't separate pieces shaped like a corner
Yes but it's not round it's a straight edge
the R-Round Bull Nose comes in 5/16 and 3/8
Yes. Home Depot carries the following trim in 1/2" it may be a special order item. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Schluter-Rondec-Sand-Pebble-Color-Coated-Aluminum-1-2-in-x-8-ft-2-1-2-in-Metal-Bullnose-Tile-Edging-Trim-RO125SP/202608947
Yes it does. On the Homedepot site they have that size made by Schluter in 1/2 x 98 1/2 = 1/2 x 8ft 2 1/2 it's a diffent color like Rondec Satin nickel, Rondee Brushed Nickel, Rondee Polished Nickel Anodized ect... Just put 1/2 x 8ft 2 1/2 R-Round Bullnose Tile Edging Trim in the search engine. You may have to get another color or try the company's web site. Let your finger's to the walking. Hope that helps.
The Satin Nickel Anodized Aluminum R-Round Bullnose Tile Edging is available in a 1/2" x 98 1/2" .
Yes
No this is not an applicable use of this product. This product is designed to be used with tile installation. We recommend you purchase a stair nosing from the Carpet Trims section at your local Home Depot"
This Product is 3/8"(H) x 98.5 (L) and Weight is 0.65 lbs.
3/8" is the height of the product from the base of where the tile would sit to the top of the metal. 98.5" inches refers to the overall length of the product.
Personally, I would not use this in a shower since I don't know how you would make the seam water tight. This edging is made to fill cover a gap between two flat surfaces. There are other Schluter trims made for corners and edges such as shower niches.
I don't see why not. We used it around our backsplash in the kitchen. Sorry I can't be more helpful
Yes it can be used to trim out the shower niche. You may also want to consider using the L shape preduct
Yes
This particular item NO as its just aluminum and will corrode pending how much moisture is in the shower What you can use is either an L edge or bullnose edge ANODIZED Aluminum to trim out your niche as the anodized chemical process will help protect the aluminum from corrosion
The same as inside corners, with a hack saw and 45 degree angle
Miguel,

1.0There is a special metal trim made for the outside corners. I have attached an image. Home Depot carries some of these-may be special order. See search: https://www.homedepot.com/s/metal+outside+corner?NCNI-5

2.0You may be able to use a drywall corner bead and mortar it in under the tile.

3. I have also found a bullnose blade useful for profiling corners. Home depot has one- you would not need trim. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Archer-USA-6-in-x-3-8-in-Demi-Bull-Nose-Profile-Wheel-for-Tile-Edge-Profiling-EPW6001/204493003
I use a standard chop saw with a good, carbide tipped blade.
All my cuts were inside corners. I used a grinder with a cutting wheel for the cuts.
Dear Valued Customer,

This item is solid aluminum, and the finish will withstand regular cleaning. We offer a 10 year warranty on our trims. Thanks for your question.
I know that it is solid out of the way through and it is Aluminum. I used it on my backsplash. I clean all the time and it holds up in my opinion.
Dear Valued Customer,

This finish is currently available only in our 3/8” profile. We do offer ½” profiles in Silver and Satin Silver finishes. Thanks for your question.
I am sorry, I used this in a straight line on my tile. We did not bend the edging.
Probably. It seems flexible.
This does not have that rating.
I did use it this way, at the bathroom to hallway transition up against hardwood flooring. The trim edge is higher than the hardwood. No issues. With carpet, it might be better to use a sloped transition shape?
Yes, it is designed to finish the tile
Yes.
That's what I did.
I didnt see any corner fits so had to miter the corners with a hack saw and miter box.
Not now, but coming later this year
no not at this moment we do not produce corner pieces.
I understand they do, but they weren't available when I bought the amount I needed. The installer did a good job with his mitering efforts.
No, it is for interior use.
A hack saw is what I use.
I cut mine with an angle grinder.
Using a diamond saw
Hacksaw, or metal cutting blade in circular saw using sacrificial wood plywood as a backing to hold the strip in place.
I saw a variety of colors at the local HD, including white.
Yes! Also comes in chrome and gold.
Not sure. If it does, I bet it's a special order.
The jolly line comes in colors. Visit Schluter.com to see more details and uses.

I think they come in 8ft only.
You will need to but two pieces and trim the second one to fit.
It came off the rack as described in the product description.

Hi there, we do not offer the arched edge on Homedepot.com. We appreciate your business and look forward to serving you in the future. Thank you for shopping Home Depot!
You can do both. You can cut it at a straight cut, or cut a 90 degree "V" or pie piece out of the back area, with the holes in it. You will also have to make a slit in the front/face.

But If you have a window, then the edge/side will butt up against the window frame, and you may not need it there, since this is made to be the bottom lip/resting point, or cover the edge of the tiles when you either don't have any edge pieces, or don't want to use them.

I've tried 2 methods of creating a corner:

1.) I cut away a "v" shape on the flat portion and bent it into a 90 degree angle. This did't work well at all, it created a gnarled appearance.

2.) I then plugged in my miter saw and cut it at a 45 degree angle, I then used tiny bit of caulk and the corner was pretty much perfect.

Hope that helps!
You will need to cut it and than continue with the installation of your tile.
You would have to cut it. I have doneit many times and it works very well that way. It will not bend.
Look it up on the Schluter website. All their dimensions are metric. Home Depot only sells it in 2.5 meter (98 1/2") lengths.
No this comes straight from the factory in 8ft 2.5inch length.

No, The flange holes is part of the structure it’s self, when you spread the thin set mortar then stick the bar down on it the mortar uses up through the holes in the flange and then hardens and that is what gives it most of its structure, so no I would recommend not to cut off the flange
Yes it would be fine and ok for a long time

you'd have to ask paint what grade of pain to use to paint aluminum so that it lasts but its really not needed as all you will see on this edge is about an 1/8 of an inch edge
Yes, depending on the application. I painted mine flat black which is the color I needed but was unable to find. I used Rustoleum spray paint which has held up fine so far. My application was for trimming around a gas fireplace where the only time the trim is touched is when it gets dusted. I do not know how the paint would hold up in an application where the trim is touched or walked on frequently.
Probably won’t stick well. If you must, i would rough upnwith sand paper and prime with oil based primer.
This edge is about 1/4 inch thick, so it will cover gaps of that size. I would also fill the gap with thin-set or whatever tile adhesive you are using

This trim comes in various depths to suit just about any tile thickness. I suggest you bring your tile sample to a local HD store and set the tile into a strip to determine which size is best for your application.

They only have the quarter round trim for outside corners only. For inside corners you would space your tiles like your grout joints and finish them with grout and caulk.
Go to the Home Depot search bar and put in outside inside corner pieces.

I'm sorry but we do not have anything like that. We used to have various profiles but we no longer carry that line of products. For further information please contact our Technical Service department at 800 272-8786 option 2.
since I bought this product in your store 2 days ago, I must tell you that the answer stating that you no longer carry this line of product is surprising. Also you still carry it on line. could someone who is familiar with this product's use please respond. thank you.
I am a DIYer. I did not use it in a wet area, but seems like that would not be a problem. Installed with grout and tile should be waterproof. Should work the same as Schluter.
yes
This sort of finishes the tile. You can't really use it for the tub surround itself.

Yes, but remember to butter your tiles.
Yes, these glass tiles were purchased from HD on line and it worked great.
I don't see why not. We used it for regular ceramic tile but it seems to me that it would work for glass as well. NOTE: I'm not a contractor or professional tile person in any way.
Yes, it is used for any tile edging that you would like. It comes in different sizes for different sized tiles.
I would NOT cut it the way I did...... using a cut off saw with a finish blade. I would use a cutoff saw with a metal / abrasion blade. I would also use a metal hand saw with a mitre jig, it would be slower but cheaper if you don't own a cutoff saw

A hacksaw works just fine to cut it.
Try a butt-joint, after whittling the channel a bit with a 4"side-grinder, or dremel tool.
yes there are end caps available.

We used the same glue to attach to the wall that we used to set the tiles instead using mortar. Worked great and dried fast.
Yes I bought last week and installed in the than an hour and the finished work look great..
You morar it in with thinset. Mortar through the holes and place tile on top of it when you set the tile.

It is cemented down with the same thin-set used to lay the tile. Just line it up on the substrate & trowel over it That"s why it has those holes in it..Or I suppose you could use mastic if your inside.I never have .
Did you ever successfully paint the trim?
Can I use this where my tile will meet back counter top? I have a solid surface counter top and want to install subway tile. The wall is not straight so the counter top has gaps so I thought this might work to make the tile straight and help cover the gap.

It says "Vertical leg covers 1-1/2 in. sub-assembly". That is from the time installing surface to the bottom edge. So the width in the face as you asked, it is about 1-1/2 plus 3/8 plus the thickness of the materials x 2 to be accurate. It is about 2 inch. But I guess the 1-1/2 is a more important dimension that covers your current thickness of the edge ( sub-assembly). If you want to cover more, check out Schluter Rondec-Step also carried by HD, they have 1-1/2 and 2-1/4. That brand carries very detailed product information than this brand.

It is available in two heights, 1.5" and 2.25" and is measured from the bottom of the tile to the bottom of the face and each comes in three tile thicknesses: 5/16", 3/8" or 1/2". For overall height, add the tile thickness to the 1.5" or 2.25" measurement. It butts up to the tile.
Depends on how thick your tile is. I used it with ~ 1/4" thick tile, and between the tile and the mortar bed, the tile stuck out past the trim bull nose
go to schluter.com or order in store

It is made of aluminum so I would guess it would hold up in the shower. I used it on my backsplash and it gets water on it and it seems to hold up fine.
You might be able to with a pair of snips or an oslating tool.

Yes it does; however, it is usually a special order. I purchased the bronze at a tile specialty store that carries a large selection of Schluter edging and it was a special order. It was not stocked at any of the Home Depot or Lowes.
Yes they do. They look great and not one blemish.

Not sure what else if available, depends on the thickness of the tile and there will also be some added thickness of the thinset. My mosaic glass tile was 5/16" thick and the edge is just barely wider seems like the right fit for my tile.
You can always cut two pieces at a 45° angle to make your outside corner

You can put this into a small miter box and cut it accurately at 45 degrees with a fine-tooth metal hacksaw that has an oiled or greased blade.
Yes, it is used as a finished edge for tiles and stone that do not offer finished ends.
yes it could if you know how to cut it to fit, and laid it under the accent tiles bordering it, then continued with the subway tiles..cuts with a metal saw blade

A hacksaw is the most common way to cut this product. You can also use a tin snips.
It depends on you, usually the tile butts up to the bullnose, that's it's purpose. Remember it's used to Protect tile edges against chipping. Here's a link to installation https://www.google.com/search?q=how+to+install+bosenose+edge+tile+trimming&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b-1-ab#kpvalbx=1.

Yes, it is located in the ceramic tile section near flooring.
I just called the number listed below and spoke to Maria to ask if they had corner pieces for this as was told they don't. When I asked how to install without these pieces she told me "I don't know, I'm not an installer."... period... end of conversation. Wow! Thanks Custom Building Products for the help!!

The glass tile might be slightly thin for it, but should work. It will not rust.
I'm not sure if I would use this product were it was constantly in contact or exposed to water. My guys installed it on the outside of the shower doors as an edge for the tile and they extended the tile about 3 inches outside the door. So there will be limited contact with water for this product. I guess you could put a clear sealer on the trim after the installation and just do it every so often to prevent rust.
No, this can be used.
It is aluminum, so rusting should not be an issue. I have used it with both ceramic and glass tile without any issues. Just make sure to remove any mastic or grout immediately. I actual mask it off with blue painters tape before grouting.

On the Schluter website it says that certain Schluter products can be bent. Best to consult the company information rather than uninformed reviewers.
They make special trim for curves which you can bend this T edge is made to fit as a transition between 2 level/hard surfaces tile to tile tile to wood etc
